Responsibilities:

The Venturi Wireless Network Engineer/Administrator is primarily responsible for day-to-day management of our corporate network infrastructure as required to support business needs. This includes monitoring to ensure all systems are functioning properly and securely, providing technical expertise to other departments on network issues, and ensuring network architecture is fully documented.

In addition, the successful candidate will be part of the cross-functional, cross-trained IT team and will be required to work as necessary on a multiplicity of areas from desktop support to tier one carrier data network troubleshooting.

You should be a self-starter who works well independently and in small teams, and also enjoys working directly with a wide range of customers and helping to solve their problems.

Required Qualifications:

B. S. C. S. or equivalent work experience

Expert knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and architecture

Experience with configuration and support of various networking protocols including DNS, DHCP, SMNP, SMTP, VLAN, VoIP, QoS

Demonstrated expertise with advanced application devices: firewalls, load balancers, IDS, VPN, switches, routers, high-availability and failover systems

Experience with Cisco ASA5540

Demonstrated knowledge of Linux features and configuration, including distributions such as Debian, Red Hat Enterprise and Fedora Core

Familiarity with Windows XP/ 2003 and Linux/Unix System Administration tasks

Experience with open-source applications such as Apache and Tomcat, MySQL, BIND, DHCP, MRTG, Sendmail, procmail, tcpdump and others

Desired Qualifications:

Familiarity with Wireless and standard Internet technologies, protocols and standards like, WAP, WML, HTTP, XML

Ambitious self-starter with a get-it-done attitude who strives for results and performs well under pressure

Education Requirements:

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 4 years in a Network Engineer position. CCNA and/or CISSP certification and current MCSE required as well as in depth knowledge of network layers, protocols and security techniques in a Microsoft/Cisco environment. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Cisco firewall technologies, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). Competency in common PC applications such as Office, Visio, Project, Outlook and Internet Explorer and experience reviewing systems security and trace logs to ensure compliance with best practices and local/federal regulations are also necessary.
