"IPTV - What's Not to Love?"
By Richard "Zippy" Grigonis
Internet Telephony
Venturi's CEO, Bret Sewell, says: "Our technology focuses on mobile broadband services optimization. We have a great interest in the mobile space, and we work closely with mobile operators to take their IP services and optimize them for the mobile experience. The benefits are twofold: First, an enhanced customer or subscriber experience, because our technology allows the subscribers to enjoy faster speeds, quicker download times, more consistent connections and greater reach as they travel through the mobile/cellular network. All of that adds up to a much more enjoyable user experience. Second, it allows operators to make better use of their network infrastructure and the spectrum that they've bought, so that they can afford to put more users onto the same network, and, therefore, lower their cost of service delivery."

analysts by dropping $2.2 billion on wireless spectrum."
By Cassimir Medford

"[Cable companies] are used to having their destinies in their own hands, so I suspect they feel comfortable owning their wireless network and letting Sprint run it, rather than going the MVNO route," said Paul Obsitnik, vice president of marketing for Venturi Wireless, a supplier of wireless network products and services. |

"Cable and Satellite TV Set Their Sights on Airwaves"
By Matt Richtel and Ken Belson

The impact of giving consumers another choice for wireless service is unclear... The amount customers spend each month on cellphone plans has leveled off, even as carriers have introduced new services on networks that cost billions of dollars to build.
“There’s always a limit to how many guys can survive,” said Bret Sewell, chief executive of Venturi Wireless, which helps carriers offer multimedia services. “Some more competition will be good, but the incumbents are in the strongest position after many years of figuring out mobility.” |

Analysts Expect Good Year for Wireless
By Steve Johnson
Medill News Service
According to a January report by Pyramid Research, a Massachusetts-based industry analyst, the world's mobile phone subscriber base will pass the 2 billion mark this year. The report also estimated that a solid 2006 would usher in an even stronger period of growth, when the advent of new features and services will begin to make their first significant contributions to carrier profitability.
"People are looking to take their on-line experience and make it mobile," Bartlett said. "All of the major operators have invested a lot in providing more services and you'll start to see more revenues generated from those services."

Wireless
Transport Optimization Spurs Mobile IP Services
by Rikard Kjellberg, Vice President of Products
for
Venturi Wireless
To deliver a wireless broadband experience
that consistently meets user expectations, carriers
must implement a wireless transport optimization
solution that addresses the unique challenges
of data transport over wireless networks. These
include link delay, loss of data, and bandwidth
variationsall of which can lead to slow
connection speeds, dropped sessions, and inefficient
utilization of bandwidth. |

Access via Cell Network
James A. Martin
"Recently,
I tested Verizon's Mobile Office kit with an
LG VX7000BK cell phone connected to a NationalAccess
plan, and I recommend it. The VZ Access Manager
software, which I installed on my notebook,
is intuitive, and it displays helpful information
such as wireless signal strength and the duration
of a connection. Another utility included with
the kit, Venturi, helped speed up my connection." |

The
Future as Seen Through Technology
Kevin Fitchard
"Mobile
data optimization is coming to the handset —
and just in time. Cingular and Sprint are expected
to launch their consumer 3G services in the
next two quarters. High-speed capacity data
services have been tripled by Verizon's new
Vcast service, and the industry is about to
make a major push for more of those services
— and for that they'll want clean pipes." |
